American Cherry Wood

American_CherryOne of the most popular woods is the american cherry flooring. This wood is not only known for its strength and stability but also for medicinal properties. Its bark has been used for making tonic.

Cherry wood is a popular choice among furniture makers, pattern makers, woodturners, musical instruments, professional and medical instruments.

Midwestern and eastern United States are the common areas to find this wood. Unfortunately, its supply isn’t highly abundant, and it is primary harvested for high grade lumber where it’s attractive color can be displayed.

Among the North American Cherry trees, the Black cherry is the largest. With average of 80 feet (24m) The tree can be harvested after 35 to 40 years of growth, and they can reach full growth after 100 years.

Some flooring manufacturers steam the wood to bleed the red color of the heartwood into the sapwood. The heartwood of cherry trees is the most popular area used as it has the reddish color that cherry is associated with. But the sapwood colors, can be a whitish color, light reddish or brown.

Even though this wood is highly resistant to decay, the sapwood can be susceptible to attacks from the furniture beetle. Cherry has excellent stability and warps or moves very little once dried.

Magnewood:#1 Green Flooring

MapMAGNEWOOD GREEN FLOORING

Magnewood is the latest innovation in engineered green flooring. It is a uniquely designed wood flooring for high humidity areas, engineered to be installed virtually anywhere. In kitchens, basements, or attics, places where
ordinary solid wood floors can’t survive.

Most manufacturers use wood or plywood base construction, which requires that important steps need to be taken to
ensure that the bond between veneer and base is very strong. The moisture of the base should equal the moisture of the veneer and the fibers of the traditional base must run perpendicular to the direction of the grain in the veneer
otherwise facial checking failures will surely result.

Magnewood green floors does not have these issues at this step because the base is a core of stone/wood pulp composite and therefore is extremely stable. There are no directional grains to worry about and thus this step provides us the added security that our final product will be flawless.

Engineered wood floors offer already many advantages over solid hardwood flooring. They are eco-friendly, easy to
install (home owners can easily do it themselves), they can be nailed, stapled, glued or installed as floating floor.
